About the event
Step into the 1920s and decide the fate of a culture in exile
- What happens to a culture when it loses its country?
A hundred years ago, millions of people found themselves outside Russia. In Berlin, Paris, Prague and Harbin, they rebuilt the lives they knew: they founded publishing houses, launched newspapers and magazines, and debated literature, the future and whether they should ever return.
Over one hour, together with Andrey, participants will experience this journey from the inside. This is not a lecture you listen to in silence: the audience makes decisions on behalf of the people of the era — which publications to launch, what to write about, whom to argue with and what to call home. These decisions shape how the story unfolds.
A conversation about memory, language, identity and the price of choice — themes that resonate today with anyone living far from the place where they grew up.
